2011 Tuition Reimbursement Fund Information
The application form for the 2010-2011 ASPA Tuition Reimbursement Fund is now available. This year, the SESD Awards Office is pleased to offer an online application for the first time. Read on for further information and applicable links.
What is the Tuition Reimbursement Fund? The Tuition Reimbursement Fund (TRF) was established to provide financial relief for a portion of the assessed U of S tuition fees for qualified students who are immediate family members of ASPA members.
How much is available? The source of the funding for the TRF is unexpended APDA balances and as such will vary from year to year. The available funds are distributed among all eligible applicants to a maximum of full tuition.
Who is eligible? Students must be an immediate family member of an ASPA member. Reimbursement will be provided for students who have successfully completed one or more U of S courses (a mark of 50% or greater for undergraduate students and a mark of 60% or greater for graduate students). Students should have completed classes during the previous fiscal year (May 1 to April 30).
How does it affect the ASPA member? The Canada Revenue Agency recently revised their position for employer provided tuition and scholarships to employees’ dependants for post-secondary education. The student receiving the tuition reimbursement will receive a T4A slip and will be required to claim the reimbursement as income on their Income Tax Return.
Important Dates Application Deadline is April 30, 2011 for courses completed in the previous academic year (May 1, 2010 - April 30, 2011). There are No Exceptions to the April 30, 2011 deadline. No extensions will be granted.
